A certain fate awaits the buildings described in this book. These utilitarian structures, built by those who required a purpose from them, have survived the test of time, but for how much longer? We have taken it upon ourselves to seek out and capture some of the Connecticut River Valley’s precarious outbuildings for continued study. This guide is a retrospective of that effort, documenting the taxonomy and personality of these objects. We may not be able to control their numbered days, but we hope to understand how these unassuming structures influence the art of building throughout the region.
